The State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine said that its government websites and banks have been hit with cyber attacks.
“Today, websites of a number of government and banking institutions have undergone a massive DDoS attack again. Some of the attacked information systems are not available or work intermittently. This is due to switching traffic to another provider to minimize damage. Other websites effectively resist the attack and work normally,” the government institution said.
Currently, the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine and other subjects of the national cybersecurity system are working on countering the attacks, collecting and analyzing information, State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine said. “We ask all authorities that have been attacked or are suspected to have been attacked to contact the Government Computer Emergency Response Team CERT-UA,” it added.
This is not the first time that Ukraine has been faced with a cyber attack.
The attack took over websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cabinet of ministers and security and defense council, posting a message on screens in Ukrainian, Russian and Polish that read: “Ukrainian! All your personal data was uploaded to the public network. All data on the computer is destroyed, it is impossible to restore it. “All information about you has become public, be afraid and expect the worst. This is for your past, present and future,” the hackers said.
