ICICI Bank’s mobile and internet banking platforms faced outages on Friday due to a server issue that caused inconvenience to its customers. The services were restored within a few hours.
ICICI Bank Limited is an Indian multinational bank and financial services company headquartered in Vadodara.
The customers of the bank took to Twitter to complain that they were unable to access the mobile banking services to perform transactions.
The bank claims over 90 per cent of savings account transactions, – both financial and non-financial –are done through digital channels, according to reports.
According to bank sources, the online banking platforms faced outages since the bank’s server was facing glitches for around two to three hours.
ICICI Bank’s retail broking and distributing firm ICICI Direct also faced similar issues.
“Dear Customer, http://ICICIdirect.com is down at the moment. We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and will update you here. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused,” ICICI Direct said in a Twitter post.
In the evening the bank said in a Twitter post that the website is working fine and the customers can log in to the account using any platform.
